Moonta has a strong mining heritage and in the 1800’s was known as one of the richest copper mining areas in Australia. Most of the mining was undertaken by industrious Cornish miners, who came to the region to ply their skills in the mines. Such a Cornish influence helped the area to be known as Little Cornwall, and the world’s largest Cornish Festival is now celebrated every 2 years (in odd-numbered years).
Simms Cove, Moonta Bay is approximately a 1 ½ hour drive from Adelaide.
