James Well is a small settlement of shacks and houses on the eastern coast of Yorke Peninsula, just below Ardrossan. The properties at James Well line the shore and surrounding clifftop.
While enjoying your stay at James Well, why not explore the area with long leisurely walks along the beach or the trails near the town? The James Well & Rogues Point to Pine Point Walk is 5.5km long and is mainly sealed; the trail follows the coast road and original windmill that once supplied the towns with mains water.
James Well has a cement boat ramp for the fishing enthusiasts – but you can launch only at high tide. Nearby Ardrossan has an all weather boat ramp, from which you can launch at all times.
Yorke Peninsula’s first commercial winery & cellar door, Barley Stacks Winery is a 20 minute drive from James Well along a dirt road, here you can sample and purchase local wine.
The larger town of Ardrossan is only a 10 minute drive from James Well, and has a supermarket, chemist, hardware store, bakery and 2 hotels.
James Well is located approximately a 2 hour drive from Adelaide.
